Our Thoughts

Ada Blythe

Ada— The winery was lovely. It was on a main road, so I was very surprised that it extended way beyond the main building. The server was very knowledgeable and the staff were friendly. The wines were expensive but I suspect this is the nature of everything these days.

My rating-

Rick— The service was very friendly and the lady chatting with us about wines was super nice and knowledgeable. The wines were all good. I tried some Pinot Noirs and a Syrah, and a Merlot. The prices were a little high, but with inflation the way it is right now I couldn’t say if they were too high. When the imports are half the price of domestic, something is wrong.

My rating-

We ended up buying a bottle of Rose, which we did not sample.

The winemaking philosophy of the Leaning Post Winery is centered around the idea that great wines are made in the vineyard. The winery works closely with its growers to ensure that the grapes are grown sustainably and with minimal intervention. This includes the use of cover crops, composting, and natural pest control methods.

Once the grapes are harvested, the winemaking process is designed to allow the natural flavors and aromas of the grapes to shine through. This means using minimal intervention techniques such as native yeast fermentation, whole-cluster pressing, and aging in neutral oak barrels.

The winery also believes in the importance of experimentation and innovation. They are constantly exploring new techniques and approaches to winemaking in order to create unique and exciting wines that reflect the terroir of the Niagara region.
