Angels Gate Syrah Pairing

Here is what we decided today to pair with today’s dinner– Hamburgers.

Today’s Syrah Pick

Syrah, also known as Shiraz, is a popular red grape variety that is grown in many wine regions around the world. Angels Gate Winery is located in the Niagara Peninsula wine region of Ontario and produces a Syrah wine that is known for its rich and complex flavors.

This wine was a little sour at first but the more I drank it with the food, the better it tasted. It’s not really a sipping wine without food but it went perfectly with my hamburger and coleslaw (all the glamorous foods). This would be a special occasion wine, lovely to share with friends over a delicious meal!

My rating-

Rick— Oh, this was nice! Nicer than I remeber at the tasting I had at the winery. Very long. Lovely flavors long after you have finifhed your swig. And now I know a Syrah is synonymous with Shiraz. My education continues.

Syrah Taste Profile

Angels Gate Syrah

This Syrah is aged in French oak barrels for 12 months, which gives it a smooth and velvety texture. The wine is also known for its dark fruit flavors, such as blackberry and plum, as well as its spicy notes of black pepper and clove.

Angels Gate Winery’s Syrah wine is a great representation of the quality and character of Ontario’s wine industry. Their wine is made from grapes that are grown in the winery’s estate vineyards, which are located on the Beamsville Bench. It is a wine that is well worth trying if you are a fan of red wines, and especially if you are interested in exploring the unique wines that are produced in Canada.

Rick’s BBQ hamburgers

I use 100% lean ground beef with no additions. I hand form my burgers; mine a bit larger than Ada’s. On the grill, I sprinkle a generous coating of Montreal Steak Spice, which is basically a garlic salt. I enjoy a nice cornmeal bun rather than a sesame bun. And I grill the burgers on high heat until the juices run clear when prodded (don’t squeeze). Hot pepper rings are a must with whatever else you may like to garnish your burger with.

Angels Gate Winery
