Seven Deadly Zins Zinfandel Pairing

Here is what we decided today to pair with today’s dinner– Hamburgers.

Today’s Zinfandel Pick

Seven Deadly Zins Zinfandel is a full-bodied, bold, and complex red wine that is made from a blend of Zinfandel grapes sourced from several vineyards in the Lodi appellation of California. It is a rich and flavorful wine that is a great choice for those who enjoy bold, full-bodied red wines. It pairs well with hearty meats, bold and flavorful dishes, and strong cheeses.

The wine has a deep ruby color and a rich aroma of blackberry, raspberry, vanilla, and spice. On the palate, it is full-bodied with medium-high tannins and medium-high acidity. It has a dry, slightly sweet taste with flavors of black cherry, plum, and a hint of pepper.

The wine has a high alcohol content, around 15%, which contributes to its bold and intense flavor profile. It is aged in oak barrels for 12 months, which gives it a rich, complex flavor with notes of vanilla and spice.

Ada Blythe

Ada

I liked this wine but I think we drank it at too high a temp as it sat in my car.

I’m not entirely sure it was worth the slightly higher price point, I may have to try it again when it’s temperature is not centre of the sun. Difficult to do an objective rating when conditions were not quite right. I’d give a 3.5/5 but may not be the wines fault!

My rating-

Rick— Perhaps the strongest wine I have ever tasted. We made a mistake though, so I was unable to give it an accurate read. The bottle sat in Ada’s car all afternoon, so it got quite warm; too warm for serving. Since we’re not all that serious in this blog, we opened it anyway and enjoyed it as it was. It started out okay, but as the meal progressed, it got too powerful.

My rating-

Rick’s BBQ hamburgers

I use 100% lean ground beef with no additions. I hand form my burgers; mine a bit larger than Ada’s. On the grill, I sprinkle a generous coating of Montreal Steak Spice, which is basically a garlic salt. I enjoy a nice cornmeal bun rather than a sesame bun. And I grill the burgers on high heat until the juices run clear when prodded (don’t squeeze). Hot pepper rings are a must with whatever else you may like to garnish your burger with.
