Vieni Estates Winery Review

Today we decided to hit the road and visit another winery since Ada had the day off and it was nice out. Vieni Estates Winery was recommended by Google Maps with a 4.8 rating out of 5.

Vieni Estates

Vieni Estates is a winery located in Beamsville, Ontario, Canada. The name “Vieni” means “come” or “welcome” in Italian, and the winery aims to make visitors feel at home on their diverse and breathtaking 240-acre estate on the edge of the Niagara Escarpment. They offer a variety of wines, including sparkling wines, and have a tasting room and restaurant on site. Visitors can enjoy a charcuterie board and a flight of sparkling wines while taking in the beautiful surroundings. Vieni Estates has received many positive reviews on TripAdvisor, with visitors praising the delicious wine and gorgeous space.

They offer many unique wines, ranging from interesting reds and roses to refreshing whites and bubbles. They specialize in sparkling wines. They make Grappa and some distilled spirits as well.

The original structure, a barn dating back over 170 years, was relocated to the estate, restored, and modernized. They offer a large bed & breakfast on the premises for events like weddings.

Our Thoughts

Ada Blythe

Ada— The winery building had an old style saloon feeling with some industrial touches. Fabian was a very attentive host, extremely knowledgeable about the wines and the processes. They make a huge variety of wines, we sampled 8 wines and bought 4. There is a distillery as well as an Orchard where they have apples for their own cider.

The vineyard was huge, approximately 250 acres. Apparently visitors had gotten lost and had to call for help! I agree with Rick’s opinion that they need a deck overlooking the vast expanse of grapes, but we had a very nice time there.

My rating-

Rick— When we arrived we were the only visitors. Fabian greeted us and took excellent care of us. He was knowledgable and receptive to us.

I found the products were all excellent, and they had a ton of different products. Prices weren’t bad either.

The grounds and tasting experience are where it could have been a little better. The patio was basically in the parking lot with some nice vines along the sides but also a noisy road. If I were them, I would build a 2nd story terrace that looks out to the back of the property, which was vast acreage of vines.

My rating-

We ended up buying four bottles of wine from Vieni Estate. Here’s what we purchased:

  • Red Trillium Ripasso
  • Momenti
  • Aglianico
  • Bruce Trail White

There are some other wines shown here as we also toured Cornerstone Wineries on this trip.

Frequently Asked Questions

  1. Who owns Vieni Winery?

The creator behind Vieni Estates channels his wine enthusiasm from Italy, blending it harmoniously with his affection for this unmistakably Canadian wine locale, specifically the exceptional characteristics of the undulating Vinemount Ridge. Mauro Salvador, the accomplished master winemaker, harnesses the finest qualities of the numerous grape varieties cultivated on the estate to craft an extensive and captivating selection of tranquil wines, ice wines, and effervescent wines.

  2. What does estate mean in winemaking?

“Estate” in winemaking generally means that the winery and vineyards must be in the same designated geographic area, the farming of the grapes is managed by the winery, and the wine is made from start to finish on-site, at the winery. In the US, there is no legally defined term for “estate,” but an “estate-bottled” wine is made entirely from grapes owned by the winery, and the wine is made entirely on the winery’s property—it doesn’t ever leave the property during fermentation, aging, or bottling. The winery and vineyards don’t have to be contiguous, but they have to be located in the same appellation. (source: Wine Spectator)

The winery and vineyards don’t have to be contiguous, but they have to be located in the same appellation. In the USA, the term “estate bottled” is defined by law, and the wine must have been made and bottled at the producer’s winery, and from grapes from vineyards owned or controlled by the producer that is within the same viticultural area as the winery.
